Mountain Gorilla Tracking.

These are found in Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga National Park. There are about 700 remaining in the world and more than half of these reside in Uganda the rest are in Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.

Chimpanzee Tracking.

These are found in the number of forests in Uganda and great effort has been put into their conservation and habituation. These forests are Budongo forest, Kibale forest, Kyambura Gorge, Imaramagambo Forest and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Ngamba chimpanzee Sanctuary.

Entebbe Town.

Was the seat of Government in the 19th century and the capital until 1962 when Uganda got independence. While in Entebbe one can visit the Botanical gardens with prolific bird life and exotic trees some more than 200 years old,Kigungu landig site; a memorial to the first catholic Missionaries, Lutembe bay famous for bird watching both for migratory and water birds including the Shoebill, the golf club, Uganda wildlife education center and the sailing club.

Ngamba Chimpanzee Island.

This sanctuary occupies 100 acres of rain forest 32km from Entebbe in lake Victoria. It is a home to chimpanzees confiscated from illegal traffickers. Travel is by canoes or motorized boats. The project was initiated and promoted by Jane Goodal; one of the most respected conservationists in the world. Proceeds from the entrance fees go into looking after the chimpanzees.

Budongo Forest.

This medium altitude moist sem-deciduous forest is the largest Mahogany forest in East Africa. Budongo has the highest population of chimpanzees recorded in any forest. It is also a very important Bird area with over 330 species so far recorded, some of the species are not known any where in Uganda, such as the Yellow footed fly catcher is only known from Budongo, Purvels illadopsis a recent discovery is not known any where else in East Africa. The 'Royal Mile' a broad drive through the forest is probably the best known ornithological site in Uganda. Chimpanzee tracking at Kaniyo Pabidi and Busingiro is a major activity. The African giant swallow tail butterfly is also found in Budongo forest.

Murchison Falls National park.

This is the biggest conservation area in Uganda bisected by the Victoria Nile. The park derives its name from the water falls where the river Nile flows through a rock crest some six meters wide to the depth of about 40m . The park has Elephants, Crocodiles, Hippos, Giraffes, Baboons, Buffaloes, and Water bucks.

The stretch of the River from the falls to the delta has one of the biggest concentrations of Nile crocodiles in the world. Another special attraction is the Shoe bill. Murchison Falls National Park is the only place where one is almost certain of seeing this rare bird and is regularly recorded along the Nile especially at the delta. The highlight of a visit to Murchison Falls National Park is the launch trip on the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the falls.

Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The park lies in the great Western Rift Valley. The park boasts one of the highest biodiversity from open savannah, to rain forest, dense papyrus swamps and crater lakes. Mammal species include Lions, Buffaloes, Leopard, Hyenas, Elephants, Forest hogs and Uganda Kob. For bird watchers the park has over 600 species so far recorded the highest in any African National Park.

Since 1997 the Queen Elizabeth National Park observatory has ringed 4000 birds of some 200 species. Activities in the Park Range from chimpanzee tracking in Chambura George, game drives, launch trips on the Kazinga channel and bird watching. At Ishasha the southern sector of the park are tree climbing lions.

Rwenzori Mountains National park.

The park has the Uganda's highest point Margherita 5100m arising from the floor of the western rift valley. It is contiguous with Democratic Republic of Congo's Virunga National park. The attractions which make the Rwenzori so famous are the remarkable spectacle of snow and ice covered peaks in the center of Equatorial Africa.

Due to its ecological importance it was declared a World Heritage site in 1995. The park has a unique flora and fauna. The central peaks have long been visited by mountaineers, climbing takes 5 days round trip and can only be accessed by experienced climbers. The best time to climb is June to August -December-February.

Kibale Forest National Park.

It is famous for Chimpanzee tracking and bird watching. The forest has 13 species of primates, the highest recorded in any African forest. Bird life is abundant and prolific. The near by Bigodi wetlands is good for both forest and wetland species.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Bwindi forest is the largest forest in East Africa that contains both Montane and low land forest in a continum, it plays a role as a pleistocence refugium and the species diversity is extremely high for both flora and fauna. The forest is believed to be a mere remnant of a very large forest which once covered South Western Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

Today, it is an ecological island surrounded by one of the highest human densities in Africa(100-450 individuals per km).Due to its importance it was declared a World Heritage site. It has groups of Chimpanzees, butterflies, some unusual birds. The park is famous as it harbours almost half of the world's remaining population of mountain gorillas. The rest are in Mgahinga, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo.   Uganda wildlife safari - 7 days.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

This is Uganda's smallest but probably the most scenic. It encompasses the Uganda side of Bufumbiro Volcanic mountains of Muhavura 4127m, Sabyino3645m and Mgahinga3400m on the boundary with Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. The park is famous for its mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. The park has rare species of fauna and flora. The area is especially important for bird watchers and has some of the albertine endemic species. For mountain climbers it offers an alternative to the Rwenzori as it is easy to climb; not as challenging as the Rwenzori's.

Kampala City.

The capital city of Uganda takes its name from 'Kasozi Ka'mpala' or the hill of antelopes.
It is a rapidly growing city in terms of infrastructure and emenities. There are new hotels, Restaurants, Apartments, Shopping centers, Churches and has facilities that would make a visitors stay comfortable. Attractions include the Kasubi Tombs- burial place for the former Buganda kings, Namugongo Martyres shrine, Uganda Museum, Namirembe cathedral.

Nyero Rock Paintings.

There are two sets of rock paintings in Eastern Uganda. The Nyero rock paintings in Kumi are said to be among the best in East Africa estimated to be around 1000 years old. The Kakoro rock paintings near Mbale town though less spectacular are easier to reach. There is also an unusual rock gong near the paintings worth a visit. The paintings are said to be the work of hunter gatherers who lived in the area about 2000 years ago.   Uganda cultural safari - 21 days.

Nakayima Tree.

The 400 years Nakayima Tree is on top of Mubende hill 4km out of town. The 213meter hill with a flat table top where the ancient palace once stood provides an excellent view of Mubende and the surrounding area. The tree was allegedly planted by Ndahura the first Muchwezi king. The tree is said to posses the spirit of Ndahura. Other Bachwezi sites are the Munsa earth works and Ntusi area in Sembabule.

Birdwatching.

Uganda is a birders ultimate destination with a bird list of more than 1010 species more than half of the species found in Africa. It is the best place to see the legendary Shoebill and is there are species endemic to the Albertine area. Worth noting is a fact that Uganda has some of the best remaining forests in Africa.
